Outline baker

The baker turns a variable font into the outlines text() draws from: the characters you choose, across the font's weight and slant axes (any other axis stays at its default), with their advances and kerning. It runs in your browser, and the font file never leaves it.

The baked file holds copies of the font's glyph outlines, so publishing it redistributes part of the font, and the font's license has to allow that. Fonts under the SIL Open Font License, which most fonts on Google Fonts use, may be redistributed; the OFL FAQ covers the details.

1. The font

Choose a .ttf or .otf file, ideally a variable font. Google Fonts' downloads include one, named like WorkSans-VariableFont_wght.ttf.

2. The characters

Enter only the characters your lines use, including the space if a line has one, so the file stays small. Line breaks in the box are ignored.

3. The axes

Choose a font first.
